Wind load calculation

TCVN 2737:2023

Design wind pressure Wk by height for walls of a rectangular building, per TCVN 2737:2023 §10.2 — covers Gf=0.85 for rigid structures and dynamic wind for flexible structures T1>1s (§10.2.7.3).

About the wind load calculator

Determine the design wind pressure Wk on the vertical walls of a rectangular-plan building per §10.2 TCVN 2737:2023.

What you enter

Building height (or height at each level) and site parameters: wind zone and terrain category coefficients.

What the results mean

Reference wind pressure W0, height and terrain correction factors, and the resulting static design wind pressure Wk (kN/m²) for load combinations.

When to use this tool

Multi-storey buildings in high-wind areas (coastal strips, hilltops); obtaining Wk as input for load combinations and edge-column checks.

This tool covers static wind on rectangular-plan walls only — it excludes dynamic wind effects, special building shapes and load combinations.

Calculation method

This tool determines the design wind pressure Wk acting on the walls of a rectangular building, per TCVN 2737:2023 §10.2.

Rigid structures (T1≤1s) use gust factor Gf=0.85 (§10.2.7.2); flexible structures (T1>1s) compute the dynamic gust factor via the full (13)–(24)+Table 10 chain with a cross-check from Annex E.1. Enter building height, plan dimensions, wind region and terrain — and, for flexible structures, the fundamental period T1, structural material (steel/composite/concrete) and 3-s 50-year wind speed V3s,50.
