About the isolated footing flexure check

Check two-way flexure of a rectangular isolated footing from design moments Mx/My per §8.1.2 TCVN 5574:2018.

What you enter

Footing geometry (L, B, h), cover distance a, materials, provided steel area in both directions As,x/As,y, and the design moments Mx/My.

What the results mean

Effective depth, relative compression zone and flexural capacity Mu per direction; a pass/fail verdict with utilisation ratio M/Mu.

When to use this tool

Reviewing a footing designed elsewhere; re-optimising footing reinforcement when concrete grade or footing size changes.

Only two-way flexure of rectangular isolated footings is checked — soil bearing, punching and eccentric compression of the footing are not covered.

Calculation method

This tool independently checks flexure in two directions of a rectangular isolated footing from the design moments Mx/My per TCVN 5574:2018 §8.1.2.

Enter the footing geometry (L, B, h), cover, materials and provided reinforcement area in each direction; the tool computes the effective depth, relative compression zone and flexural resistance Mu per direction, then compares with Mx/My with a pass/fail conclusion and utilization ratio.
